B 740 in English

HI sorry for posting this in English but my German is really bad

I finally managed to get hold of a B740 in nice condition to fit into my chain of revox gear that consist of 2 x B77 ( 1 normal speed 4 track and one high speed 2 track) 1 x b710 mkII, 1 x studer a710, 1 x B760, 1 x B750 MK II, 1 x B790, 1 x B225 and a set of BX 4100 Loudspeakers

I have not been able to find data for the B740 I would like to know the RMS power pr. Channel in 4 and 8 ohms ? - alt. the DIN power ?

What is the difference between the A740 and the B740?

Any tips about this amp that is good to know

i neither have a B740 nor a A740, but I know, where to find the approbriate literatur.
http://www.revox.name/b200s/smdownload.htm ,and there the "B740" document. I think, you can read in english (the middle column) both, B740 and A740 informations there.

Hi rlb 3050,

There are not many differences. The later one the B740 has a build in relays for speaker protection when switched on. That's it mainly.

Output is 175 Watt per channel into 4 ohms (100 Watt per channel into 8 ohms).
I doubt that this is RMS but rather DIN.

Furthermore follow e.g. the recommendation from Gunter

As a hint: Try to refurbish and update the B740 in a good Revox service place (e.g. change all capacitors) and you will have a wonderful power amp for the next 20 years.

There is only one guy left in Denmark that does a prober Revox job - but he really knows his way around

I gues i will have to be a little carefull with the volume control on the B740 and my BX 4100 speakers - would not want to blow them apart
