B251 - Welche Endstufe Relais

I recently bought another B251 in excellent condition. There is a difference in output relays: one amplifier has flat, IC-like relays, while the other has classic, large relays with transparent plastic cover and visible mechanic leaves. The question is: which type is better suited for loudspeaker application and which is more reliable in the long term?

Hello Milan,

I've used the Panasonic 24 volts relays for both of my restorations. The Panasonic relays gold contact and working nicely. If needed, I can share the part # with you!

Hello John, I have these replaced exactly with Panasonic orange ones (as in the picture on the left) but my new B251 has the large type, like on the right picture. Nothign wrong with them, but my question is general: which type is more reliable for loudspeaker application.

This is a good question. Depending if they have the same specs. I would prefer gold contacts if specs are the same. I'm wondering also the date of manufacture. Is Revox went with the smaller version with the later production? This is also a possibility. Both mine had the small version and manufactured in 1984 and 1985.
